The Forbes list of the world’s billionaires is a yearly ranking by wealth of the world’s wealthiest people, compiled and published by the American business magazine Forbes. The list was first published in March 1987 and since then has been published annually, except for one year (1996). The rankings are based on a combination of financial statements and estimates of assets and liabilities. The list is compiled by ranking each individual’s estimated net worth from lowest to highest.
